TOWN OF BLAINE
MEETING MINUTES

Tuesday, May 12, 2020

Chairman Vern Drake called the May 12, 2020 monthly board meeting to order at 6:02 PM. 

Present were Chairman Vern Drake, Supervisor Jessica Estridge, Supervisor Josh Fornengo, Treasurer Larry Holter, Clerk Charla Zaccardi, Sharon Proffit, Bonnie Young, Ron Gallagher, Dori Willett and Matt Holter.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

Clerk’s Report:  Supervisor Estridge made a motion to approve the April 14, 2020 board meeting minutes. Supervisor Fornengo seconded. Motion approved.

Treasurer’s Report was provided by Larry Holter.

Expenses:  Supervisor Josh Fornengo made a motion to approve payment of May expenditures as submitted.  Supervisor Jessica Estridge seconded.  Motion approved.

Citizen’s Input: None

Chairman’s Report: 1) Chairman Drake reported that the road stream crossing tour in Hayward was canceled. 2) Chairman Drake responded to an e-mail from someone wanting to know if the short road section of Big Hill Road would be maintained by the Town. They were told no, as it is not a Town road. 3) There will be new owners of Otis’ Bar – Casey and Katie Kroll. 4) The International truck will have a large bill coming through next month. 5) Chairman Drake would like the board to re-think about a single axle truck. 6) Chairman Drake reported on ambulance times for the town being 35 minutes and we had 3 calls. 7) Chairman Drake mentioned the S. Markville Road bridge to be repaired soon.

OLD BUSINESS:

Road Equipment Update:  Ron Gallagher stated equipment is in good condition.

Road Condition Report: Ron Gallagher reported the road conditions are good.

Northland Community Center: The building is closed at this time – August and November elections will be held.

Waste & Recycle Transfer Station: A new sign for the WARTS will be coming soon.

 

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Liquor license applications received include one renewal and one new application. Supervisor Estridge made a motion to approve a Provisional Liquor License for McGraw Lake Tavern from June 1 to June 30, 2020. Supervisor Fornengo seconded. Motion approved.

  2. The bids for lawn mowing from Matt Holter for the NCC and Larry Kern for the Hillcrest Cemetery were reviewed. Supervisor Fornengo made a motion to approve the $100 bid from Matt Holter to mow the Northland Community Center and the $200 bid from Larry Kern to mow Hillcrest Cemetery. Supervisor Estridge seconded. Motion approved.

  3. Chairman Drake shared information with members on the 2020 Road Improvement Plan improvements. A tentative date for a road inspection will be June 17, 2020. Chairman Drake outlined expenditures of projects done and upcoming. Supervisor Estridge would like to review the Road Improvement Plan at the Budget Meeting in October.

Supervisor Fornengo made a motion to adjourn at 7:06 PM. Supervisor Estridge seconded. Motion passed.  Meeting was adjourned.
