MEETING MINUTES

April 17, 2018

Chairman, Vern Drake called the April 17, 2018 monthly board meeting to order at 6:55 p.m. 

Present were Chairman Vern Drake, Supervisor Jessica Estridge, Supervisor Dan Ellefson, Clerk Charla Zaccardi, Treasurer Larry Holter, Ron Gallagher, Ron and Sharon Proffit, Josh Proffit, Don Slipher and Tammy Baer.

Clerk’s Report:  Jessica made the motion to approve the minutes. Dan seconded. Motion approved.

Treasurer’s Report was provided by Larry Holter.

Expenses: Expenses were reviewed. Jessica made a motion to approve payment of the bills as submitted.  Dan seconded.  Motion approved.

Citizen’s Input: None

Chairman’s Report: Need for board member signatures on bank checking accounts will be placed on the May 2018 agenda.

Jim Tolbert, Director, Burnett County Emergency Management, will be at the June 12th board meeting – It was mentioned there is a class on government units using social media tools for communicating emergencies – Jess might be interested in taking this class.

Chairman Drake shared an ECE brochure regarding right-of-way maintenance.

Chairman Drake mentioned we have a new County Board Supervisor, Steve Austin of Webb Lake.

Open book on 5/15/18 from 9-11 AM and BOR on 5/22/18 from 9-11 AM was noted.

OLD BUSINESS:

Road Equipment Update:  Road equipment is in good shape. The truck will go in for service and will have a transmission flush. Ron will replace one new tire on the old loader.

Road Condition Report: Good conditions. The McGraw Lake Road project is ongoing with brush clean up. The cost of this project is anticipated to increase with driveway aprons installed. Vern has received a bid from Roy’s Sealcoating and crack sealing will begin in May. There was a handout presented to board members from a 1995 “Order to Discontinue Highway” to understand the background and benefits of discontinuing this town road.

Northland Community Center – Tammy Baer reported to the Board that there will be a kids’ activity program every 2nd Saturday of the month from 2-4 p.m. at the NCC. This is a great idea for the community. She also mentioned there will be a presentation at the NCC on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 7 p.m. from Burnett County Sheriff Wilhelm regarding “Security for Places of Worship and Public Buildings” This is open to the public! The board thanked Tammy for her help and doing this for the community.

Waste & Recycle Transfer Station: None.

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. The date for the annual road inspection will be Saturday, May 19, 2018. Please meet at 8 a.m. at the Old Town Hall.
  2. Jessica made a motion to approve the previous and final future order of table and chairs for the NCC. Dan seconded the motion. Motion approved.
  3. Brochures were shared with members and Ron Profitt will be a volunteer promoter and advocate for ADRC to encourage more use of the ADRC (Aging & Disability Resource Center)
  4. We will talk to the sheriffs’ department before removing or replacing “Gun Free Zone” type signs on Town property.
  5. We have received renewal liquor license for Otis’s Bar and a liquor license application for Hillside Inn, LLC.

Estimate from Sandstrom Roofing regarding a roof replacement for the NCC

What if any action should be taken regarding the preservation of the old town hall

Jessica made a motion to adjourn at 7:32 pm. Dan seconded. Motion passed.  Meeting is adjourned.
