TOWN OF BLAINE
MEETING MINUTES

Wednesday, December 13, 2023

 

 

Chairman Jessica Estridge called the December 13, 2023 monthly board meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. 

Present were Chairman Jessica Estridge, Supervisor Josh Fornengo, Supervisor Bryan Holter (via telephone), Clerk Charla Zaccardi, Treasurer Mona Velebir, Ron Gallagher, Jason Walters, Matt Holter and Brandie Fornengo.

Pledge of Allegiance

Clerk’s Report:  Supervisor Josh Fornengo made a motion to approve the November 8, 2023 monthly board meeting minutes as submitted. Supervisor, Bryan Holter seconded. Motion approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Mona Velebir reported on bank balances for Bremer Bank and Community Bank of Cameron.

Expenses:  Supervisor Josh Fornengo made a motion to approve payment of monthly expenditures as submitted. Supervisor Bryan Holter seconded the motion. Motion approved.

Citizen’s Input: None

Chairman’s Report: Chairman Jessica Estridge mentioned we received a letter regarding the town’s shared revenue will be increasing next year. A 400.2% increase is what the town will be receiving.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Road Equipment Update:  Ron Gallagher mentioned everything is good right now. It was noted that the town will have to spend a large amount of money this year on roads to continue receiving the same amount of GTA funding. A discussion took place on what is needed to make this happen.

Road Condition Report Compliments were received recently that mentioned it was nice to have the roads sanded before the school bus was out driving in the morning. Good Job you guys!

Fire Report: None. A few medical calls were had. There will be some clarification about helicopter landing pads available in our township.

Northland Community Center: Sunday, December 25th 6-7 pm worship.

Waste & Recycle Transfer Station: HOURS: 4 PM to 7PM Wednesday evenings, and 11 AM to 3 PM Sunday’s.

NEW BUSINESS

1) Superintendent Scot Kelly was not able to make tonight’s meeting. This will be rescheduled for a later date.

2) WARTS proposed cost for residents and non-residents were presented. A resident pass would be $150/year and a Non-resident pass would be $250/year. Town residents with no pass $20.00/trip (4 bag limit) and Non-residents with no pass $30.00/trip (4 bag limit), recycling is free. Passes will be good for a calendar year no matter when purchased. Residents will be able to purchase passes from the town treasurer. A discussion took place regarding garbage and household items accepted. It was suggested to bring in a dumpster once a year for clean up. Research on bringing in a separate dumpster for scrap and metal will be done. A plan will be put in place in the future for those bringing in after hours dumping. A pass will be developed with the possibly of purchase for household bagged garbage as soon as March/April 2024.

Supervisor Josh Fornengo made a motion to adjourn at 8:16 pm. Supervisor Bryan Holter seconded. Motion passed.  Meeting was adjourned.
