TOWN OF BLAINE
MEETING MINUTES

Wednesday, June 14, 2023

 

Chairman Jessica Estridge called the June 14, 2023 monthly board meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. 

Present were Chairman Jessica Estridge, Supervisor Josh Fornengo, Treasurer Mona Velebir, Clerk Charla Zaccardi, Ron Gallagher, Matt Holter, Bill Fish and Dori Willett.

Pledge of Allegiance

Clerk’s Report:  Supervisor Josh Fornengo made a motion to approve the April 19, 2023 monthly Board Meeting Minutes as submitted. Chairman Jessica Estridge seconded. Motion approved.

Supervisor Josh Fornengo made a motion to approve the Friday, April 28, 2023 Special Meeting Minutes as submitted. Chairman Jessica Estridge seconded. Motion approved.

Supervisor Josh Fornengo made a motion to approve the May 10, 2023 monthly Board Meeting Minutes with the correction #3 moved to state “the meeting reconvened in an open session at 8:21 p.m.” Chairman Jessica Estridge seconded. Motion approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Mona Velebir reported on bank balances.

Expenses:  The loan through Community Bank has been paid in full. The Township received FEMA reimbursement for disaster repair work on North Markville Road. Supervisor Josh Fornengo made a motion to approve payment of monthly expenditures as submitted. Chairman Jessica Estridge seconded the motion. Motion approved.

OLD BUSINESS:

Road Equipment Update:  Ron Gallagher reported that the mower is fixed which has been out of commission for an extended perior of time. Ron is keeping track of disaster expenses.

Road Condition Report: Ron Gallagher reported that the cleanup on the roads is at about 40% and will be ongoing. Roads are pretty good. ATV/ UTV damage is less than last year. Traffic is definitely down. More signs are being put out and ambassadors have been helpful. The county has been hauling gravel onto ATV trail #151 using Big Hill Road to access the southern portion of the trail. Any damage to this road and trail access will be taken care of by the county. ATV/UTV road damage will be discussed again at the next meeting.

Fire Report: Chief Bill Fish has completed the first half of the year’s Fire Inspection Report.

 

Northland Community Center:

- Saturday, September 9, 2023 Holmstrom Family

Northwest Interiors has been contacted and will come look at the gym floor and then give us recommendations for repair. Information will be shared at the next meeting.

Waste & Recycle Transfer Station: HOURS: 4 PM to 7PM Wednesday evenings, and 11 AM to 3 PM Sunday’s.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Supervisor Josh Fornengo made a motion to officially hire Mona Velebir as the official Treasurer for the Town of Blaine. Chairman Jessica Estridge seconded. Motion approved.

2. Liquor license applications for McGraw Lake Tavern and Hillside Inn were received and reviewed. Supervisor Josh Fornengo made a motion to approve the liquor licenses from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024. Chairman Jessica Estridge seconded. Motion approved.

3. A firework permit was approved for Hillside Inn for Saturday, July 1, 2023 with the condition weather permitting. That being the Town and/or Fire Chief has the ability to pull the permit if needed due to fire danger.

Supervisor Josh Fornengo made a motion to adjourn at 7:43 pm. Chairman Jessica Estridge seconded. Motion passed.  Meeting was adjourned.
