TOWN OF BLAINE
MEETING MINUTES

Wednesday, January 12, 2022

Chairman Jessica Estridge called the January 12, 2022 monthly board meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 

Present were Chairman Jessica Estridge, Supervisor Josh Fornengo, Supervisor Bryan Holter, Clerk Charla Zaccardi, Treasurer Mona Velebir, Ron Gallagher, Dori Willett, Katie Proffit, Matt Holter and Billy Fish.

Pledge of Allegiance

Clerk’s Report:  Supervisor Josh Fornengo motioned to approve the December 8, 2021 meeting minutes with a correction under Citizen’s Input that should read a “12 inch” culvert. Supervisor Bryan Holter seconded. Motion approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Mona Velebir reported.

Expenses:  Supervisor Josh Fornengo made a motion to approve payment of expenditures as submitted.  Supervisor Bryan Holter seconded.  Motion approved.

Citizen’s Input: None

Chairman’s Report: None

OLD BUSINESS:

Road Equipment Update:  Ron Gallagher reported that he put two new batteries in and ordered a new tire for the plow truck recently.

Road Condition Report: Ron Gallagher reported that roads are plowed and sanded.

Fire Report: Dairyland Fire Chief Billy Fish informed the board of last year’s total fire runs and discussed a DNR fire that was extinguished this past fall.

Northland Community Center: The upcoming elections were listed on the Agenda and are also available on the Town’s website. New voting machine training will take place at the County Clerk’s office on January 26, 2022. Clerk Zaccardi and two other election inspectors will attend.

Recently a blower motor was replaced on the furnace at the NCC. The board received a furnace replacement proposal from Earth Energy, Siren, WI. The board supervisors will look into consulting with other companies and receive a few more bids before going forward with a decision about replacement of these furnaces.

 

 

Waste & Recycle Transfer Station: HOURS: 11 AM to 3 PM Sunday’s through March 31, 2022. It was suggested that the steps should be regularly shoveled and possibly replaced. The board supervisor’s will look into more sturdy steps. Chairman Jessica Estridge will contact the attendant about monitoring the recycle bins. We will have one more recycle bin added this April 2022.

NEW BUSINESS:

1) Internet providers were discussed for the NCC. The board will contact the school district to possibly access a mobile hot spot. It was also suggested we hold open gym one night a week for school age kids. Supervisor Josh Fornengo made a motion to have open gym at the Northland Community Center one night a week. Supervisor Bryan Holter seconded. Motion passed.

2) Supervisor Bryan Holter made a motion to appoint Mona Velebir as temporary Deputy Clerk for Tuesday, February 15, 2022 Spring Primary election.

- Follow up on NCC internet

Agenda items due Friday before each meeting.

Supervisor Fornengo made a motion to adjourn at 8:00 pm. Supervisor Holter seconded. Motion passed.  Meeting was adjourned.
