TOWN OF BLAINE
MEETING MINUTES

Tuesday, January 19, 2021

 

Chairman Vern Drake called the January 19, 2021 monthly board meeting to order at 7:20 p.m. 

Present were Chairman Vern Drake, Supervisor Jessica Estridge, Supervisor Josh Fornengo, Clerk Charla Zaccardi, Treasurer Mona Velebir, Ron and Sandy Gallagher, Ron and Sharon Proffit, Brandie Fornengo, Nicole and Dan Sear, Kent and Jennifer Klausing, Bryan Holter, Matt Holter, Bill Fish, Dori Willett, Bonnie Young and Steve Lundeen.

Pledge of Allegiance

Clerk’s Report:  Supervisor Fornengo motioned to approve the December 15, 2020 meeting minutes. Supervisor Estridge seconded. Motion approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Velebir reported.

Expenses:  Supervisor Estridge made a motion to approve payment of expenditures as submitted.  Supervisor Fornengo seconded.  Motion approved.

Citizen’s Input: None

Chairman’s Report: None

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Road Equipment Update:  Ron Gallagher mentioned there were hydraulic leaks in some road equipment.

Road Condition Report: All roads are plowed and in good condition.

Northland Community Center: No recent updates on floor repairs.

Waste & Recycle Transfer Station: None.

NEW BUSINESS:

The annual tax statement was discussed and recommendations were to provide property taxpayers with more information as to what their taxes are going towards, i.e., school district, Burnett County, and the Town of Blaine and also what services are provided by the town.

Supervisor Estridge will attend the Burnett County quarterly ambulance meeting and get information regarding response times.

A preliminary discussion of the April 20, 2021 Annual Elector’s Meeting took place and a few items will be considered for discussion and voting. a) Change of town treasurer position to appointed versus elected. b) Reconsider adopting county zoning. c) Issue of using town roads for snowmobiles and ATVs/UTVs considering their dramatic increase in the amount of traffic, creating safety issues, encroachment on quality of life; and town road damage.

Steve Lundeen explained his situation with Big Hill Road and asked for clarification on the length of this road. After discussion, the board re-affirmed that the official DOT length was 0.73 miles, and referenced the Town Resolution passed August 11, 2020.

Supervisor Estridge made a motion to adjourn at 8:20 p.m. Supervisor Fornengo seconded. Motion passed.  Meeting was adjourned.
