TOWN OF BLAINE
MEETING MINUTES

January 14, 2020

 

Chairman Drake called the January 14, 2020 monthly board meeting to order at 6:00 pm.

Present were Chairman Vern Drake, Supervisor Estridge, Supervisor Josh Fornengo, Clerk Charla Zaccardi, Treasurer Larry Holter, Ron Gallagher, Bonnie Young, Ron and Sharon Proffit, Matt Holter, Dairyland VFD Chief, Bill Fish, Mona and John Velebir .

Clerk’s Report:  Supervisor Estridge made the motion to approve the December 10, 2019 board meeting minutes. Chairman Drake seconded. Motion approved.

Treasurer’s Report was provided by Treasurer Holter.

Expenses:  Supervisor Estridge made a motion to approve payment of the bills as submitted. Supervisor Fornengo seconded.  Motion approved.

Citizen’s Input: Dairyland Fire Chief, Bill Fish updated the board on the status of the approved grant money and noted he will submit receipts for reimbursement soon. He also shared last year’s medical and fire number runs with the board. Supervisor Estridge will be attending the Quarterly Ambulance Committee Meeting next week and will have a report next month.

 

 

Chairman’s Report:

  1. Chairman Drake reported that his computer crashed and is in for recovery and repair.

  2. Chairman Drake shared information on calculating GTA amounts.

OLD BUSINESS:

Road Equipment Update:  Ron Gallagher stated equipment is in good condition.

Road Condition Report: Ron Gallagher reported the roads have been plowed and more sanding will be done. If residents need sand for their driveway, please contact Ron Gallagher or residents may pick up a pail or two of sand as needed.

Northland Community Center: A special Town Board Meeting will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 6 pm for bid opening for tuckpointing of the exterior of the NCC.

Waste & Recycle Transfer Station: None. (Winter Hours – Sunday’s 11 am to 3pm)

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Mid-State Consultants notified Blaine that CenturyLink Telephone Company intends to place above ground telecommunications facilities at four locations, two along St.Croix Trail and two along Big McGraw Road during 2020 over the winter. Cable to these facilities will be placed during the 2020 construction season.

  2. Supervisor Estridge will respond to Nick Karan a Blaine resident regarding acquiring improved internet service. A discussion of possible internet options ensued with no clear direction as to how to proceed, but contacting one or more of our Wisconsin representatives is one option.

  3. Chairman Drake updated the board on the three large road projects still in the planning stage: The Low Water Crossing on State Line Road; the culvert bridge on North Markville Road; and the raising and paving of a section of South Markville Road.

Supervisor Fornengo made a motion to adjourn at 7:00 pm. Supervisor Estridge seconded. Motion passed.  Meeting was adjourned.
